Although I am no fan of Trump, I actually agree with his labeling of the COVID virus as the "China Virus." After all, whether it originated naturally (from human contact with an animal, like a bat) or from a laboratory accident, there now appears to be a consensus that it originated from China--full stop. And frankly, if it originated from a laboratory accident in Wuhan, then China should be liable for it and be made to pay for it.
In an era where the ban on possession of biological weapons is now widely recognized and can be argued to have become part of customary international law (as has the Geneva Protocol prohibition against the use in war of chemical and biological weapons), China's secret initiatives to develop biological weapons (i.e., how else could you explain the COVID virus in a laboratory in Wuhan prior to the global pandemic?), in its relentless pursuit of global hegemony, should not only be exposed but should be dealt with in the harshest and most punitive manner by the international community.
President Biden's order to review the origins of COVID is a welcome announcement for the simple reason that the entire world deserves to know the truth. Incidentally, the other simple reason is we need to know the truth for the preservation of the entire human race.
However, China does not appear to share this view, which has been evident by it's apparent lack of cooperation in the recent investigation of an international team of experts. Instead, China tries to deflect the issue by accusing Biden of "politicising" the origins of COVID. Nice try Xi Jinping. This may work in your neck of the woods, where you can literally run over your citizens with tanks and not have to answer for it. However, the rest of the civilized world is going to hold you accountable, regardless of the repressive communist spins out of Beijing.
Sure, you've got the economic wealth and the military might of a superpower but you will never garner the respect of the global community until you face-up to the truth about the origins of the COVID virus, China's ill-treatment of of the mostly Muslim Uyghur minority in Xinjiang and, for that matter, China's imagined "9-dash line" in the South China Sea. Until then, you, China, are no better than a crass, overbearing, repressive, low-trust, nouveau riche sovereign thug/bully.
